
Officer Injures Head, Shakes It Off, Arrests Suspect
Detroit’s West Side (5:30AM): DPD 6th Precinct officers sitting on a ‘shots fired into an occupied dwelling” call in the 7400 block of Rockdale, waiting on DPD evidence technicians to arrive, found themselves in a foot chase with 3 suspects, according to dispatch audio. It’s unknown if those 3 subjects were involved in the earlier shots fired into the dwelling incident.
The 6th Precinct Scout, with 2 officers assigned, were waiting on evidence technicians to arrive and process the scene. The officer was injured while scaling a fence in a backyard on the 7300 block of Dacosta, severely injuring his head. The officer apparently shook it off, rubbed some dirt in his face and arrested one of the fleeing suspects….because he’s a badass.
Although DEMS Medics were ordered, officers on the scene conveyed the injured officer to Oakwood Hospital in Dearborn. Dispatch audio the injured officer experienced difficulty breathing during the conveyance and hospital officials were made aware.
DPD established a perimeter around the area, ordered K9 to the scene and continued their investigation. The suspect arrested by the injured officer was conveyed to the DDC (Detroit Detention Center) by other DPD scouts.The injured officer’s condition is unknown at this time.
