Meijer’s Stabbing Suspect Shot, Arrested By Grand Rapids Police
Grand Rapids, Michigan: The Walker, Mi Meijer’s stabbing suspect has been shot by Grand Rapids Police following a tip received by family members of the suspect’s girlfriend.
Grand Rapids Police received a tip from the father of the suspect’s girlfriend earlier this morning saying that the suspect, ID’d as a hispanic male; 20 year old Victor Gonzalez , walking southbound on Milwaukee towards Bridge St.
The GRPD spotted him on Bridge St heading east. Units responded and set up a perimeter.
The GRPD located the suspect in a buildings basement at 606-608 Bridge Street (One Bourbon Bar). A GRPD officer noticed the buildings rear door opened that had been closed during a previous search and a K9 was deployed.
The suspect attempted to flee the building where he was shot in the stomach by officer’s on the scene.
Grand Rapids Fire Department and MMR (Mobile Medical Response) was then dispatched to the scene at 608 Bridge St.
The suspect was conscious and breathing when transported by MMR. He is currently is serious condition at St Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
A GRPD supervisor requested a LEO not at the scene to be dispatched to accompany the suspect to the hospital.
