Dispatch Audio: Shots Fired At DPD Officers

No Officers Injured

Detroit: Detroit Police 3rd Precinct Scouts came under fire from an older model green GMC Yukon in the area of Atkinson & Woodard earlier Saturday morning at around 11:58AM.



A DPD 3rd Precinct scout called out a priority and shots being fired at officers. No officers were struck and dispatch audio suggests no officers returned fire. During the incident, scouts reported a “passenger was thrown from the suspect vehicle” and that he appeared to have been shot. DEMS Medic 6 was dispatched to the scene.

DPD units were also dispatched to the 600 block of Atkinson for a DOS; or dead on scene. It’s unknown if this run was in conjunction with the shooting and its veracity is also unknown at this time.

The suspect vehicle, an older model green GMC Yukon with an improper plate of DLC 3653 is thought to have entered the M-10 freeway following the shooting.

DPD investigators are assessing Green Light partners video in a bid to identify all those involved.

5 Shootings In 5 Hours, 2 Fatal


Detroit: Shots rang out in Detroit Wednesday night and Thursday morning, wounding 5 people, 2 of them fatally. 2 children shot, 1 of them fatally.

Rossini & Redmond-Non Fatal

At 10:13PM Thursday evening, Detroit Police responded to Rossini & Redmond on Detroit’s east side on reports of a shooting. Officer’s from the 9th Precinct discovered 1 with a gunshot wound. DEMS Medic 13 conveyed the victim to St John Hospital. At the time of this writing this shooting remains a non-fatal.


Nett St & Van Dyke-Non Fatal (Child)

Detroit’s East Side: At 10:36PM, DPD’s 11th Precinct responded to Arcola & Eldon on reports of a shooting. Arriving officers discovered the child had been privately conveyed to St John Hospital. Investigation of this incident revealed the shooting took place at Nett St & Van Dyke. Dispatch audio suggests 2 vehicles were exchanging shots at each other in the 7400 block of Nett St when the child, sitting in a car seat inside her mother’s Dodge Charger, was struck by gunfire. The child is listed as being in temp-serious condition.

DPD looking to find Brandon Johnson Person, the person of interest in the 3-year-old’s shooting.

W Warren & Southfield-Non Fatal

Detroit’s West Side: At 11:40PM Wednesday DPD officers were dispatched to W Warren & Southfield, near the Shell Gas Station on reports of a shooting. The caller stated her boyfriend had been shot in the face. DEMS Medic 5 was also dispatched and conveyed 1 male with a gunshot wound. At the time of this writing this remains as a non fatal shooting.


Birwood & Margareta-Fatal (Child)

Detroit’s West Side: At 12:53AM officers from the 12th Precinct were dispatched to the 18600 block of Birwood on reports of a 4 year old male shot. Arriving officers discovered the 4 year old child suffering from 2 gunshot wounds. DEMS Medic 18, along with DEMS Supervisors 1103 & 1105 were dispatched to the scene.

DEMS Medic 18 conveyed the child to Sinai-Grace Hospital in grave condition. Dispatch audio suggests the child was inside a residence on Birwood when someone started firing shots into the dwelling, striking the child twice. Witnesses on the scene suggest the shooter(s) may have been driving a gray Chevy Astro or GMC Safari van, last seen fleeing west on Margareta.

The child was pronounced deceased at Sinai-Grace Hospital.

Superior & Chrysler-Fatal

Detroit’s East Side: At 2:42AM Thursday morning, officers from DPD’s 3rd Precinct were dispatched to the scene of a shots fired call in the area of Superior & Chrysler. Upon arrival officers discovered a male had been shot inside a white vehicle near the rear of 1047 Superior. DEMS Medic 8 was also dispatched to the scene. Dispatch audio suggests the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. No further information on this fatal shooting.

31 We Need Backup!

Detroit November 12 2018: On Veterans Day morning, Detroit Police 3rd Precinct Scout Car 3-2 was dispatched to a domestic violence, assault and battery call just north of downtown @ Adelaide & Woodward. Another Scout, 3-1, had just finished taking a t/c report nearby and volunteered to take the call from Scout 3-2. Scout 3-2 thanked Scout 3-1 and off to the DV/A&B call Scout 3-1 went.

The audio has not been altered or edited until the very end, when time and length of audio became an issue. The call itself is unedited.

Woman Visits DPD’s 3rd Precinct, Tries To Set Herself On Fire

Woman Tries To Set Self On Fire In DPD Precinct

Detroit – February 5 2018 2:20AM: A woman, described as a “mental”, walked into the Detroit PD’s 3rd Precinct on W Grand & 3rd early this morning and tried to set herself on fire.

A commotion could be heard over the radio and dispatch immediately notified 3rd Precinct units in the field to make the precinct.

Officers inside the precinct were able to stop the woman from hurting herself and a Detroit EMS unit was dispatched to the scene.

No officers were injured.
