DPS Officer Dies Following Large Fight
Detroit’s NW Side-3:37PM March 10 2022: A Detroit Public Schools officer died during a large fight near Henry Ford High School, 20000 Evergreen Rd. Detroit Police were notified by DPS Police dispatch at around 337PM that one of their officers was injured and down in the area of Trojan & Vaughan, 1 block west of Henry Ford High School.
Multiple officers from DPS School Police and Detroit’s 8th Precinct responded. At the time of dispatch and arrival of officers, the injured DPS officer was unconscious and not breathing. Detroit EMS was dispatched to the scene, but a DPS Police unit conveyed the critically injured officer to Sinai-Grace Hospital. Officers from both the DPD and DPS blocked roads for the conveying officer.
The Detroit Public Schools officer was pronounced deceased at Sinai-Grace. At the time of this writing it’s unknown how the officer died. A large log was recovered from the scene and surveillance video capturing the incident shows a rather hectic scene, but the cause of the officers death is still unknown.

via ODMP: Police Officer Freddie Wilson died after collapsing at the scene of a large fight near Henry Ford High School at about 3:30 pm. Multiple officers had responded to the fight near the intersection of Vaughan Avenue and Trojan Street that involved a large number of subjects. Officer Wilson suddenly collapsed as they were dispersing the crowd. Other officers immediately rendered aid. He was transported to a local hospital where he passed away a short time later. Officer Wilson had served with the Detroit Public Schools Community District Police Department for over 20 years.
