New Year’s Eve On Detroit’s East Side
Multiple…and I mean MULTIPLE bells being wrung in Detroit…sorry, I mean shots being fired. Too many that DPD is just chasing ghosts…Supervisors bringing their officers in to the station….just getting stupid.— Motor City 911 (@DetroitScanner) January 1, 2019
Detroit – New Year’s Eve 2019: Detroit’s east side explodes in gunfire. Follow videographer CharlieBo313 as he drives the street’s of Detroit in the early morning hours of January 1 2019.
Detroit residents have a tradition of firing of weapons into the air on New Year’s Eve. Gunfire started early and officer’s of the Detroit Police Department chased shots fired calls all evening, running from one call to the next.
City leaders have asked that ‘bells be wrung’ instead of firing bullets into the air, pretty sure that message was lost in translation somewhere along the line. In anticipation of the gunfire, Detroit emergency services announced that all DPD scout cars, fire apparatus and EMS rigs were to find shelter if not engaged on a working run. Below is that announcement from Detroit Fire’s EMS, posted last night on our twitter account.
